Indian Rummy Scoring: Points, Drops, and Declarations
JugarVed calculates Rummy results from the finalized hand and applies a maximum score of 80 points. This page explains the player-facing point rules used at the table.
Card values
Cards from 2 through 10 count at face value. J, Q, K, and A count as 10 points. Printed Jokers and cards that are the effective wild rank count as zero.
Unmatched-card scoring and the cap
When the required sequence structure has been satisfied, unmatched cards contribute their point values. For example, K + 9 + 4 contributes 23 points. A total above 80 is capped at 80. Missing a pure sequence results in 80 points.
Drops and invalid declarations
A first drop is 20 points when you have not successfully drawn during that hand. A middle drop is 40 points after you have successfully drawn at least once. An invalid declaration is 80 points.
Winner and finalized non-winner scores
The winner records 0 points. JugarVed also has a product-specific minimum: if an otherwise valid non-winning finalized hand resolves to zero under the rule engine, it is recorded as a 2-point loss. This is a JugarVed rule, not a universal Indian Rummy convention.
