13-Card Indian Rummy Rules: How to Play
A JugarVed Rummy hand starts with 13 cards. The aim is to form valid groups and make a declaration after drawing and identifying a discard.
Starting a hand
Each player receives 13 cards. The table has a closed pile and an open discard pile. The selected wild card is shown for the round and helps determine which cards act as wild-rank Jokers.
Draw, then discard
On a normal turn, choose a card from the available pile. Your hand grows from 13 cards to 14. After drawing, discard one card to return to 13 and pass play to the next eligible player.
Declaring a hand
To declare, use a 14-card hand, identify the card to discard, and group the other 13 cards. The grouped cards must contain at least two sequences, with at least one pure sequence. Every remaining card must belong to a valid sequence or set.
Dropping from a hand
JugarVed calls it a first drop when you have not successfully drawn during that hand; it is worth 20 points. After you have successfully drawn at least once, a middle drop is worth 40 points. This classification is based on draw history, not simply whether it is your first turn.
How a round ends
A valid declaration ends normal turn play and starts finalization of the round. Other eligible players’ final hands are finalized before results and scores are settled. A round can also finish when only one eligible player remains. The result screen shows the finalized groups and scores. See how Rummy scoring works for point details.
