How to Play Blackjack: Rules for Beginners
In Blackjack, try to finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over 21. Going over 21 is a bust and loses that hand.
Card values
Cards from 2 through 10 count at face value. J, Q, and K count as 10. An Ace counts as 1 or 11, whichever produces a useful non-busting total. For example, A + 6 is a soft 17 because the Ace is currently counted as 11.
The opening deal
You receive two cards and the dealer receives two cards. One dealer card is visible during player action, while the dealer’s hole card remains hidden.
Natural Blackjack and ordinary 21
A natural Blackjack is an original, unsplit two-card 21, such as A + K. A three-card 21 such as 7 + 7 + 7 is an ordinary 21, not a natural Blackjack. A 21 made after splitting is also an ordinary 21.
If either opening hand is a natural Blackjack, the hand resolves without normal player action. A player natural and dealer natural push; a dealer natural beats a non-natural player 21.
Hit and Stand
Hit adds a card to the active hand. You can continue while that hand remains legally actionable, but reaching 21 or busting completes it. Stand stops cards on the active hand. If you have multiple player hands, play continues through the remaining hands before the dealer acts.
Double
Under current JugarVed rules, Double is available only on an eligible original two-card hand. It adds another base wager, deals exactly one final card, and then completes the hand. It is not restricted to totals 9, 10, or 11, is not available after a Split, and requires sufficient virtual coins.
Split exact-rank pairs
Split is available when an active two-card hand has the exact same rank. K + K and 10 + 10 may split; 10 + J cannot split even though both cards are worth 10. A split adds another base wager. You may have up to four player hands, and eligible non-Ace split hands may be resplit when they again contain the exact same rank.
Split Aces
A + A may split. Each resulting Ace hand receives one additional card and then automatically completes. Split-Ace hands cannot Hit, Double, or resplit Aces. Any resulting 21 is an ordinary 21, not a natural Blackjack, so it does not receive the 3:2 natural-Blackjack payout.
Dealer play
After player hands are complete, the dealer reveals the hidden card and draws until reaching at least 17. Under JugarVed’s current rules, the dealer stands on both hard and soft 17.
Outcomes and virtual coins
An ordinary win returns the committed stake plus equal profit. A push returns the committed stake. A natural Blackjack pays 3:2 profit. JugarVed uses virtual coins only, and these outcomes do not create cash value.
